Restorative Yoga

Modern life can feel fast, overwhelming, and constantly demanding. Many of us move from one task to the next without ever truly pausing for ourselves. Over time, this can lead to chronic stress, exhaustion, tension, pain, or illness.

Our bodies begin to ask for attention — but instead of listening, we often keep pushing through, afraid of slowing down or not doing enough.

That’s exactly why creating intentional moments of rest has become so important. Even if it’s “just” 20 minutes. This is where Restorative Yoga can offer deep support.

“Only in still water can the light of the stars be reflected.”

Chinese Proverb

Restorative Yoga is a gentle and regenerative style of yoga rooted in the tradition of B. K. S. Iyengar. Through years of teaching, he discovered that supported postures — using props such as bolsters, blankets, and straps — could have deeply therapeutic effects while making yoga accessible and safe for every body.

This approach proved especially supportive for physical imbalances, recovery after injury, and nervous system regulation.

One of his students, Judith Hanson Lasater, was inspired by this work and helped bring Restorative Yoga into the world.

My Restorative Yoga sessions are usually offered as private one-on-one classes. Together, we choose and adapt the postures according to your individual needs and physical condition.

Softly supported by props, the body is invited to rest in each āsana for up to 20 minutes. There is no intense stretching, effort, or pressure to achieve anything. Instead, the practice creates a space where the body can soften, exhale, and simply be.

Many people describe the experience as feeling deeply held, supported, and safe.
A space where nothing is expected from you.
A place where your body doesn’t need to perform.

As the breath naturally slows down, the nervous system begins to settle, allowing the body to shift into a state of deep rest and recovery.

In Restorative Yoga, doing nothing is not laziness.
It is a conscious invitation into stillness — a space where the body is finally allowed to repair itself.

The essential ingredients are simple:
space, time, and gravity.
